Steel Frames

MMI’s range of steel frame profiles gives architects, specifiers, and general contractors a complete set of options to meet every project requirement.
Construction practice across Latin America — and particularly in Mexico — has modernized around North American construction codes, techniques, and standards, centered on installing standardized door and frame sizes. This approach makes supply and installation faster, simpler, and more cost-effective.
Masonry / Concrete Standard Frames — Masonry Series
MMI manufactures 1-3/4″ steel frames available in 14 ga and 16 ga cold-rolled or A60 galvannealed steel, with clean mitered corners and pronounced profile lines. These frames install into concrete or steel-stud walls. Available sizes range from 2′-0″ × 6′-8″ through 4′-0″ × 10′-0″, with throat profiles from 4-1/2″ through 8-3/4″. Available configurations: single rabbet, double rabbet, double egress, double acting, communicating, and adjustable.
Corners: Precise 90° miters for a clean, consistent appearance. Fig. A-1
Tabs: Four interlocking tabs per corner secure the frame and provide the structural strength the profile needs. Fig. A-2
Standard Door Stop: 5/8″ high stops on all profiles, ready to receive perimeter gasketing. Fig. A-3
Hardware Reinforcements: One-piece welded reinforcements for maximum strength — at the strike (Fig. B-4) and hinge locations (Fig. B-5).
Adjusting screws: Hinge adjusting screws to simplify door hanging. Fig. B-5.
Drywall Frames — Drywall Series
The Drywall Series is engineered for installation in drywall (gypsum board) wall construction. A compression anchor at the top of each jamb, and two additional anchors at the base, lock the frame firmly into the opening without any field welding — allowing a clean, fast, and secure installation. Available in 14 ga and 16 ga cold-rolled or A60 galvannealed steel.
As with the Masonry Series, all bends are clean and the corners use the same four-point tab interlock to secure the jambs to the head, preventing any frame movement.
Available sizes range from 2′-0″ × 6′-8″ through 4′-0″ × 8′-0″, with throat profiles from 4-3/4″ through 8-3/4″.

Tabs: Four interlocking tabs per corner secure the frame and provide the structural strength the profile needs. Fig. A-2.
Anchor: Adjustable compression anchor for a firm grip on the wall, plus two additional perforations at the base of each jamb to stabilize the frame during installation. Fig. D.
Hardware Reinforcements: One-piece welded reinforcements for maximum strength — at the strike (Fig. C) and hinge locations (Fig. C).
